Where the forest
writes the schedule.

Ruhija sits at 2,350 metres on a forested ridge in southwestern Uganda. Mornings begin with mist threading through ancient mahogany and the call of great blue turacos. We keep things deliberately small, deliberately quiet, and deliberately community-run — every stay supports the elders, schools and conservation work of the surrounding villages.

silverback.

Ruhija is one of only four sectors in Bwindi where you can trek habituated gorilla families. Permits are coordinated directly through camp, and our guides — many born in these villages — read the forest like a familiar story.

At dusk we walk the trails to find Jackson's three-horned chameleons and the quiet flutter of night butterflies — small wonders the forest keeps for patient guests.
